For centuries quilters have created appliqué
quilts without the elaborate resources we enjoy today. They did not have the fabrics and notions that are now available, and
yet they created beautiful, heirloom appliqué quilts that are still cherished by many today. Surely they must have
enjoyed the needleturn appliqué handwork. So now, after years of teaching needleturn appliqué, I have decided
to prepare an instructional manual reinforcing the basic techniques that I specifically utilize and endorse in my classes.
It is my hope that, through the use of my preferred techniques, I might instill that "love of handwork" in my students
as well as the readers of my book.
